I don't know of anyone in the UK repairing the GO, but looking at
pocketgps.co.uk a lot of people have sent their GOs back to TomTom and have
got the repaired item within a week.

Surely no Go unit has been on sale long enough to be out of warranty?

TomTom will repair the screen under warranty in most cases. But before you
do send it back, get a sheet of paper and run it gently under the edge of
the screen bezel all the way around to ensure no trapped dust or grit
particles are the cause.
